(Price and information as in June 2003 for models of this year 2003...) Để đọc trang nąy trong tiếng Việt I'm thinking about trading in my bike for a new model, and my colleagues are thinking about getting themselves bikes too (finally after all the talks I put into them)... This page is for my own buying opinion-considering purpose only, not as a reference, advertisement, crisis or any other purpose... How you use the information is not my responsibility... Pictures and information are gotten from US Triumph, Ducati, Aprilia, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Harley Davidson web sites... You can click on the hyperlinks with each company name to go to the each company's section on this page...
That is me with my 2001 Triumph TT600... Later of this year 2003, Triumph introduces the new 2004 Triumph Daytona 600 as a more sport-kinda bike than TT600... It got racing-kinda muffler, twin-headlight, a little higher seat height but with a total height less than TT600, also shorter than TT600... So, with less weight and more power than TT600, this is one of the best new coming middleweight supersport bikes... The returning Triumph Daytona 955i in red color available is must-ride super bike... Triumph is still my favorite brand... Problem is that not like Japanese bikes already sold in the US for long time and widely, this English bike company has only a few dealership in the US... Therefore, looking for accessories is like "waiting and guessing" game... For instance, if I want a custom racing suit to wear to go with my yellow TT600, I have to place an order thru my dealership which may turn out that the real look and feel are not like in the picture in the catalog... On the other side, I can just go to any Kawasaki store, for instance, or go online and get exactly the green trade mark Ninja look for a green Ninja bike...
The 800SS from Ducati is a must-see, must-try supersport bike despite the fact that it is around 30 more lbs heavier than my current bike... Superbike 999R with 139 horsepower and North America street legal bike, supersport 620 Sport, and supersport SS1000 DS are some of the whole new models from Ducati, they are muscle-looking guys... 999R is a must-have superbike, king of all superbikes in my opinion... Unfortunately, price is out of my aims' reach and this European bike has the few European problems with accessories as the Triumph too (but not as much as Triumph)... The website does have accessories links but prices are listed in Euros, not USD...
Aprilia, another European bike brand, has some racing-looking bikes I love to look at but never had a chance to ride one yet... Aprilia updated its RSV Mille R and RSV Mille with slightly more colorful look than last year models... Better than Triumph & Ducati, it has a US customer orientated web site, but still not really much... We need web sites to order stuffs, to see the MSRP prices, etc... To take a look at models and information on bikes from Aprilia in US, click here to access the site... For those you want to buy a 50cc racing bike or scooter that look cool plus cute, this is the brand to buy...
The CBR600RR from Honda got the new trend of style with the center-mounted exhaust muffler placed under seat, therefore trim the body fat, makes it slim and ready to race... Further more, this bike is available in racing yellow color, beautiful... The CBR954RR catches my eyes a little more with the look (more muscles, power-kinda look)... I'm sorry, but just as picking girls, I'm into the looks too, not just the inside values... But just as all the girls I picked, this bike is so expensive than I can afford right now for crying out loud... The RC51 is nice... The 919 and Interceptor are also so-cool "bad boys", but I got the scared feeling that the passenger may accidentally touch the muffler which is not covered totally and too close to the seat... Kawasaki with the red Ninja ZX-12R from 2002 is a cool bike that I just wanted to hop onto and ride it every time I went to the dealership... This year, there's not red color version of this bike... This ZX-12R is kinda big and heavy for a skinny guy like I am, not to mention the price... The ZX-6R, on the other hand, is more right for me (price, weight, and the new other-than-green colors for this year model)... Beside more choices on color, the ZX-6R has 6 more horsepower than the ZX-6RR model... The only problem with Kawasaki sport bikes for me is the seat height... There is always about 1 inch higher than my TT600 (which I already had to use just my toes to touch the ground)... The ZX-7R is better with 1 inch lower on seat height, plus the new introduced Pearl Blazing Orange color also with the black racing-look muffler (no offense, but Kawasaki should offer more color choices than just green in Ninja, even though that was the color that marks Ninja's name in history book)... All supersport GSX bikes from Suzuki are nice, fair priced, but the styles are not much stand out, seat height is too high... They have the GSX-R1000 updated to improve the ramp-air efficiency, and to reduce crankage pumping losses... Torque of the GSX-R1000 improved from 75.9 at 8250 last year to 78 this year; horsepower changed from 144.8 at 10,250 rpm to 152.1 but at 11,000 rpm... For street sport, I'd rather consider the Katana 600 (low seat height of 30.9 inches), or the so-cool-of-the-look Hayabusa 1300 (big engine, fair seat height)... But, these two guys are so heavy (over 400 lbs.)... The TL1000R looks nice... The Bandits and SV's are so cool; but in my opinion, I love a sport bike with fairing to cover totally my engine, so these two "bad boys" are out of my considerations... The YZF's from Yamaha are somehow side-to-side in comparison with Suzuki's GSX's... Prices are more in range, colors are not stand-out but sporty a little more than Suzuki... Seat height and weight are still problems... They redesigned the YZF-R6 to be handled better; also this year's model has 3 more horsepower with the new intake system... Almost all the new 600cc class sport bikes of this year got 2-3 more horsepower than the TT600, that's the reason why I think about trade it in for a new one... It will be a touch choice to choose among those for me... But half the fun is shopping around, right? I was also thinking about a cruiser for longer trip or just to relax my shoulder muscle a little bit (I gotta admit that I am too old)... Fortunately, seat height is not a problem with these cruiser guys (even Harley Davidson doesn't go over 28" on seat height) not to mention the cheaper insurance than sport bikes... The "vroom, vroom" sound will be deeper and more masculine sound... Each of the four Japanese has cool cruisers with fair prices... Honda's Shadow VLX or Rebel should be enough for a secondary bike... From Yamaha are V Star Custom and Virago... From Suzuki is Savage... From Kawasaki are Vulcan 750 and Vulcan 500 LTD... But if I take it seriously, I should think about the legend Harley Davidson's too...

about scooters,
For people who thinks about buying the very first bike, here's the tip: have a car first... Just like I do, you can have it to use in the days of very bad weather... For people who thinks about getting motorcycle rider license, I think the best way is attending a Basic Riding Course... This course usually takes one week to accomplish, but there's also short term course taking of only Saturday and Sunday with longer hours each day... Upon your successful accomplishment of this course (you will be tested the skills you learn at the end), all you have to do is going to the Department of Public Safety to take a writing test (which is so easy because they are all covered in the course), you pass 14-15 questions straight then you pay a little fee and you have a class M (for motorcycle) on your license ... Check with your local Department of Public Safety for training sites at your place... Let me just quote what Moto-Ed, site that I attended my course to get put on there site for this class to show you why it is the best way to get your license: "Upon successful completion you will enjoy:
Best of all, your confidence will be greatly improved having received clear, effective, professional training." HONDA (click here to go to Honda's motorcycle web site) Go to top
